The next selection for IWFC Calgary's Book Club will be This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel and will be led by Hilary Foulke.

"This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel is a novel about a family navigating the challenges of raising a transgender child. The story follows Rosie and Penn, parents of five boys, as their youngest, Claude, expresses a deep desire to be a girl. As they try to support their child while protecting her from societal judgment, they grapple with secrecy, acceptance, and the complexities of identity.

The book is a heartfelt, thought-provoking exploration of parenting, unconditional love, and the balance between privacy and openness. Frankel, who has a transgender daughter herself, brings authenticity and compassion to the narrative."
