The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On April 3, 1968, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people.



Patricia Darbasie is a graduate of the University of Alberta's BFA Acting and MFA Directing programs. Her directing credits include: Ribbon, a one -woman show about Amber Valley that she wrote and performed at Studio Theatre. The Syringa Tree, which was part of her Voice Pedagogy diploma at York University and Mesa for Atlas Theatre. Pat was the assistant director on The Color Purple at the Citadel and directed Heaven there. Patricia recently completed a run of her one-woman show Donna Orbits the Moonat Northern Lights Theatre and will now turn her attention to her direction of The Mountaintop. We are thrilled to have Patricia join us and speak with us after the show.

Play start – 7:30pm, finish 9:00pm

Gather in the Tucker amphitheater (upstairs) immediately following the play for coffee/tea and dessert, and a facilitated discussion with Patricia Darbasie (director of The Mountaintop) and IWF member Catrin Owen.
